Yes, you can use nutritional supplements to control back pain, and finding the right supplement is the key to a successful rehabilitation.

Many people believe that one of the answers to back issues is the use of nutritional supplements. They believe that by taking certain daily supplements you can help to relieve a person's problems and the pain they cause.

As a matter of fact, the feeling is that nutritional supplements will strength the cartilage as well as a person's bones. It will diminish inflammation and help to loosen the muscles. As long as you understand that these supplements will not work overnight, they are an answer to back pain that means investing in a long-term solution, then there is not a reason not to try them.

As long as you understand that nutritional supplements are for those who have chronic back pain not for those who suffer the occasional pain problem.

Understanding the Types of Supplements
Supplements are divided into two groups. One works hard to strengthen different areas in your back and in this way helps to eliminate pain by giving your back a better defense system. The other group is pain relievers.

If you have chronic, constant, back pain they can be of use as well. When taking any of these supplements be careful to read the instructions. Some are hard on the stomach and so need to be taken with food, others must be taken on an empty stomach and some cannot be mixed with others. Read the labels and take them exactly as directed if you want them to work for you. Even nutritional products can be detrimental to your health if used wrongly.

Nutrional Supplements Need Time To Work
Most of the supplements take a few months of use before you will see any improvements at all. If you are going to use a Calcium and Magnesium mix, often sold in one pill, then you should also use Boron.

While it's the job of the Calcium and Magnesium to strengthen bones the Boron will help your body to better absorb the other two. Vitamins C and D as well as Glucosamine Sulfate are for building stronger cartilage, strengthening the bones and helping the muscles. Another supplement to help with muscles strength is S-Adenosylmethionine.

The other supplements work to relieve pain in a variety of ways. Some of them diminish the inflammation. This would include Bromelain, Devil's Claw, Turmeric, Flax Seed, Boswellia and White Willow Bark. Bromelain is often suggested for use in athletic injuries, following surgery or if the person suffers from any type of arthritis.

Pain Releif With No Side Effects
Some of these have dual purposes. For example, Devil's Claw also has the ability to make the effects of medications prescribed by your health care provider work better. Cayenne has the ability to improve blood flow.

This is very important as improved blood flow promotes healing. It is taken by mouth for that purpose but it can also be used as a cream to help with the pain of strained muscles. White Willow Bark is a good pain reliever with all the same effects of aspirin without the potential side effects and Niacinamide is used to help promote the healing of cartridge.

You now know some basic information about Nutritional Supplements and helping you with your back pain. Now is the time to do your own research and find a supplement that will help in your back care recuperation.

About the Author
Ron Keegan is a successful Webmaster and publisher of ArticleBankOnline.com a Health/Lifestyle Directory with up to date information on health and lifestyle issues. treatment for back pain at http://www.articlebankonline.com

Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31901816.post-70558418519582958272007-03-08T06:41:00.000-08:002007-03-08T06:42:56.154-08:00Facts about Vitamin Nutritional SupplementsVitamins are a very important part of a healthy balanced diet. They are essential for speeding up chemical reactions in our body and are also needed to prevent certain diseases.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are the main sources of nearly all kinds of vitamins. Eggs and milk also provide a lot of vitamins. However, when we don't eat enough of these foods, it can cause vitamin deficiency within our body.

This vitamin deficiency can be cured by taking a handful of multivitamin nutritional supplements. Vitamin supplements are important because other nutrients, such as minerals, work with the vitamins in the form of enzymes and coenzymes to help fight against certain diseases.

A few years ago people thought that eating a healthy diet was sufficient enough to keep an individual fit and healthy. However, recent research has shown that taking supplements is beneficial even for people that eat a healthy diet.

This is because modern methods of farming reduce the overall quality of vegetables, add to this the amount of time the vegetables sit on the shelves and it's no wonder that the amount of nutrients in these vegetables is reduced. It has been established that water-soluble vitamins, like B vitamins (B6, B12 and folic acid), and vitamin C are the ones that get absorbed by the bloodstream and often leave the body when we urinate.

As a consequence, even healthy diets alone are not enough to keep these vitamins at a certain level in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle which is necessary to keep a person fit and healthy. There are no clear symptoms to detect vitamin deficiency in body. However, you can correct vitamin deficiency if your daily food intake does not conform with a prescribed healthy and balanced diet.

Although it's very important to consult a diet professional before consuming any kind of vitamin or mineral food supplement, it's also necessary that you do a little research of your own to find out how to choose a particular nutritional supplement product.

There are some precautions that you must consider before choosing which nutritional supplements you should take. First of all, you need to know that there's nothing like a properly functioning and healthy body.

Vitamin supplements are no comparison for natural foods, but if you think you need vitamin supplements, always put quality first. Don't go for cheaper products merely because they are cheap. Expensive products are often the ones that contain natural substances which and nearly as effective for the body as natural food sources. Your body's nutrition is very important; it is worth investing in.

Always choose supplements which use ingredients that have been suggested by renowned scientists and dietitians. A combination of Flavonoids and Phytochemicals, along with the necessary vitamins and minerals, is thought to provide a balanced supplement and is useful for improving the overall health of an individual. Green tea is an excellent source of Flavonoids. Just another thing that we can thank the Chinese for! If supplements have to be consumed, make sure they are made out of concentrated plant material.

One of the quality measures is to see if these vitamin products are coated with a colored or sugar coating to make them attractive. Don't go for these types of products, since they probably don't contain the essential substances that should be a part of any nutritional supplements. Good nutritional supplements are often composed of large tablets that smell of compressed plant-like material.

Always make sure that the company you are going to buy a vitamin supplement from is an authentic one and is either licensed or certified in providing health services. You can e-mail them or telephone them directly to ask some questions about their product. If they are accessible and provide satisfactory answers to your questions, you can consider buying their product. Your body is your temple, so when choosing supplements choose ones that you can trust!

This list of tips is by no means comprehensive, other tips and precautions must be considered before choosing the correct nutritional health supplement. Make sure that you buy a quality product that will prove to be useful for your body in the long run.

About the Author
Christopher DiCicco is the owner of the online Nutritional Supplements Store Flexhealthnutrition.com and has been involved with health and nutrition for over 20 years. But actually, the anti aging cream or any other cosmetic products can help only on the surface and can hardly repair on the real spot of the cause. The real cause of gaining aging look is something we called the free radicals.

Free radical is the size of an atom which is very small and move very fast. It is the real enemy to getting aging. As we are getting older, it is accumulating to destroy our cell. Free radical attack on protein, lipid and nucleic acids leads to a reduction in their respective function, thereby decreasing cell function, then organ function, and finally, organismal function. This action is called oxidation reaction which leads to the cell damage.

How the oxidation operate in the human body
Human life lives by the energy process. When we boost the energy, we are also metabolise the energy which is formed by sugar and fat by the oxygen we breathe in. This metabolism does not complete and produce unstable molecules which are out of the mitochondria. And the molecule is called free radicals. Theses free radical will interact with other atom and molecule in the cells and make the cell get distort. The oxidation is a usual reaction of cell to produce energy by oxidizes oxygen. So while the energy operation make us live, it is also destroying us.

Free radicals can interact with the cell and produce the excretion from the metabolism. If this excretion is accumulated much, it will restrain DNA, RNA, and the protein synthesis, and reduce the energy level and biochemical process. In the other words, it will destroy the operation of the cells.

How to prevent our self from the free radicals?
The free radicals occurs every time we breath in so we can not stop the occur of it. Anyway, our body also produce the antioxidant substance to fight with the free radicals usually. When we are young and in the good condition, our body will be able to fight with the free radicals by it self. But when we are getting older, the capability of free radical fighting is lesser than ever. So we need to take in the antioxidant food or even the supplementary.

The antioxidant food and supplements

1. Vitamin E
It is a substance that can expel the poison occur from free radicals. It acts as a free radical scavenger to prevent the byproducts of chemical-cell interaction to cause cell damage. Free radicals are likely responsible for all or most of the degenerative diseases e.g. arthritis, heart disease, cancer, senility etc. The absorption or scavenging of free radicals would protect our cells from this type of injury. Take in vitamin E 400UI per day will reduce the heart decease risk for 30-40% But actually, only 10-15 UI per day is enough for fighting with free radicals. Vitamin E is found in Almond, seeds, spinach, mustard greens, peppers and olive oil.

2. Vitamin C
Vitamin C helps some of our most important body systems. It helps the immune system to fight off foreign invaders and tumor cells. Vitamin C also supports the cardiovascular system by facilitating fat metabolism and protecting tissues from free radical damage, and it assists the nervous system by converting certain amino acids into neurotransmitters.

The skin, teeth and bones also benefit from vitamin C's collage-forming. It contributes to maintenance of healthy bones.

Vitamin C is full in all fruits and vegetables like green peppers, citrus fruits and juices, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, turnip greens, and other leafy greens, sweet and white potatoes, and cantaloupe. Papaya, mango, watermelon, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, winter squash, red peppers, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, and pineapples are also good resources of Vitamin C.

Take in vitamin C 300-400 mg per day will increase the life of men for 6 years and for women for 1 year.

3. Vitamin A
Vitamin A plays essential roles in vision, growth, and development; the development and maintenance of healthy skin, hair, and mucous membranes; immune functions; and reproduction.

It also comes from animal sources, such as eggs, meat, milk, cheese, cream, liver, kidney, cod, and halibut fish oil. However, all of these sources -- except for skim milk that has been fortified with Vitamin A.

Vitamin A is found in the Beta carotene food. The prunes, carrots, pumpkins, cabbages, apricot, watermelon, mangos and other color fruits and vegetables are full of the Beta carotene.
According to the recommendation of Dr. Claude Chauchard, the French medical professor, you can take in vitamin A 5mg per day for women, and 10-15 mg per day for men.

About the Author
Kuro is a beauty lover, Phd. Not that vitamin B refers to just one vitamin--there are actually many. But at least when vitamins B6 and B12 are involved folic acid is included. This is because folic acid is a B vitamin.

The B vitamins are a set of vitamins that when originally discovered were all mistaken to be one vitamin and that vitamin was named vitamin B.

That's why you will notice that there are so many different vitamins running around these days with 'vitamin B' as part of their label.

Today the B vitamins are known as a complex of vitamins that all interact with each other and are commonly found in the same foods. When buying a vitamin B complex in the store it will contain many different vitamins that go under the 'B vitamin' label. All in all there are eight B vitamins that we humans use and among them is folic acid. There are other B vitamins that people don't use but you needn't worry about them.

You may find folic acid referred to as a folate, Vitamin B-9, Vitamin M and Vitamin B-c. These are all the same vitamin running around under varying pseudonyms. Also you may find it interesting to know that since the discovery that vitamin B was really so many different vitamins many of them have been renamed, so the eight that we have today aren't all of the original B vitamins. Some have had legal name changes.

Folic acid was found in the nineteen thirties to help prevent anemia in many pregnant women. Of course back then there wasn't a synthesized form of folic acid, so it was initially given in yeast extract. Later in nineteen forty one it was extracted from spinach.

You can also find folic acid in othere green leafy veggies, dry beans, peas, and fruits. Currently many governments fortify their white flour with folates and you can often find cereal with enough folic acid in it to meet your daily requirment.

Speaking of daily requirement, the recommended daily requirement for folic acid is four hundred micrograms. If you are pregnant, could become pregnant or lactating take between six hundred and eight hundred micrograms daily.

Folic acid is necessary for the replication and maintenance of DNA and RNA. It helps to prevent changes in your DNA that can lead to cancer and its needed for proper growth and to make red blood cells. Thus it is very important for the pregnant and those who may become pregnant in order to prevent birth defects.

A deficiency of folic acid may present itself with Diarhhea, poor apetite, weakness, sore tongue, headaches, heart palpitations, and neurological problems. In general B vitamins help to keep up your metabolism, help you maintain healthy skin and muscle tone. They benefit your immune system and nervous system.

They also help with cell growth and can fight stress, depression, and cardiovascular disease. Remember your body doesn't store B vitamins well. You must get them daily but luckily folic acid and other B vitamins are present in many foods.

About the Author
Author Vincent Platania represents the Stanley Beauty Products. Try some of these stepsThese days, the desire of the average person (especially-and understandably- the female gender) is to retain youth, both in appearance and physiology.

This desire is in spite of the fact that aging is actually a natural process and again it is understandable that in this day and age where most things are image driven, one would want to stay looking young.

To this end friend, if there is a magic pill for anti-aging, there is no doubt among leading researchers that exercise is it. Nothing comes closer to achieving anti-aging effects in our body as exercise, even more so when combined with a proper and healthy diet.

Now, exercises for anti-aging consist of 3 separate components:
1. Flexibility Training
2. Cardiovascular Training
3. Strength Training

At this point, based on experience and some documented facts, most if not all of these components could very well be addressed and met with the use of Yoga.

Speaking of yoga, both of its "descendants" (Pilates and the Royal Court Exercises) and even the common body-weight exercises can all be used as the forms of exercises for anti-aging purposes.
Furthermore, the diet that is normally associated to a Yogic lifestyle (that being a 'sattvic diet') is perhaps one of the best dietetic choices for health and wellness.

Thus it should come as no surprise that this specific diet is perhaps the best for delaying the aging process.

Moreover, it is quite similar (if not the exact same) diet that is coined in the drug-free fraternity as the "Mucus-Less Diet" as it comprises of Raw Fruits, Fruit, Leafy and Root Vegetables and Some Less Harmful Whole Grains all the while being sure to adhere to simple rules such as proper food combining and eating at the right times.

This diet will see to it that all the sources of vitamins and nutrients are adequately met and that the primary dietetic needs of the body are catered to while simultaneously cleansing the body at the same time.

In addition to subsisting on a proper diet, other factors such as getting enough rest, laughter, keeping company with friends and family (that raise your spirits), interacting with children, animals and nature and just remembering to take things easy are other steps that aid in delaying the aging process and offer the best and superior tips on anti-aging steps.

Here's to being...FOREVER YOUNG!!!

About the Author
Foras Aje is an independent researcher and co-founder of BodyHealthSoul LLC. The list could go on and on. What do all these ailments have in common? If you have any of these conditions, it very well could be dehydration, which is more common than people realize.

"Dehydration" means not taking enough water into the body. If you are not drinking at least one quart for every 50 pounds of body weight, then you are not giving your body enough of the vital "fluid of life" we call water.

Most people would ask "Why is water so important?" Normally the body is made up of more than 70 percent water. The body needs water to carry out its many functions, including formation of blood and lymph to carry nutrients and oxygen to every cell of the body and to take away wastes and carbon dioxide that can accumulate to toxic levels if not eliminated.

Consider that at least 66 percent, or two-thirds, of Americans don't drink enough water, and 10 percent don't drink any water at all. Most people take better care of their car than they do their own body. They wouldn't dare run their car's engine without water and motor oil. But a car is just a machine that wears out and is then discarded. A person's body should be more important to them than that.

Water is essential, just like breathing air. Our body can go without food for much longer than it can without water. So water is fundamental to being healthy. Taking in enough clean water should be the first thing to consider when adopting a program to improve health, before anything else, including nutrition and vitamins. Without water, no other health measure will have much benefit.

For those who refuse to take in enough water, eventually it will catch up with them when their body begins to break down and one or more of the symptoms listed above show up. Then they will want a magic pill to try and fix things, or maybe then they will start to listen to their body. Can you hear your body calling: "Water. Please, give me water."

About the Author
Dr. Tim Holcomb is the "Tox Doctor", the source for information about living a toxin-free life by avoiding toxins from your water, air, household chemicals and electrical devices, and how to detoxify toxins from your body. Which multi vitamin is best for you? Finding out takes time and research, especially if you want to supplement for a vitamin deficiency brought about by disease or illness.

In this case it is worth consulting a physician and nutritionist together to get the best vitamin advice and nutrition plan for you. An off-the-shelf multi vitamin may not contain the required nutrients in sufficient quantities. You probably want a supplement that is preservative free and color free, yet many store-bought vitamins contain these. Therefore, one of the best tips for personal health, or in creating a healthy eating plan, is to get custom-made multi vitamins.

Get Professional Advice and Get Informed
The first port of call should always be your physician, but you can also see a dietician and do some research prior to visiting the doctor's office so you will know the right questions to ask. Due to lack of training in medical school, there are gaps in herb and nutrition information within the medical community so it may be useful to present the reasoning behind your supplement needs.

If you already know the predicted supplement action, this is also useful, so the doctor is better able to know how the supplement may act in the treatment of illness. Most healthcare professionals will tell you to take a standard pill, which may not be the best multi vitamin for your health, so some evidence based research is required to find the best vitamins, herbs and minerals for your particular situation or health concern. Mitamins has a wealth of nutrition advice and vitamin information from trained nutritional experts in our Library.

Follow the Mass Market Approach or Create Your Own Nutrition Plan?
Generally most people will take a daily multi vitamin, and these often come as a customized formula, targeted for women's health, senior health, or a particular health concern. It is worth noting that formulas usually only contain the Recommended Daily Amount (RDA) of a specific vitamin, mineral, or herb, and that this value is the minimum dosage needed as part of a healthy diet.

Often, an illness or disease can induce a vitamin deficiency in the body, so a dosage higher than the FDA approved value is needed in many cases to replace vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids. Of course this introduces the risk of vitamin overdose, so it is very important to seek professional advice. Mitamins is able to use your personal health profile to check drug-vitamin interactions, possible deficiencies, and avoid vitamin overdose.

Choose a Method of Delivering the Nutrients
Multi vitamins now come in many forms such as gel, capsule, chewable caps, drinks or tablets. Choosing the best vitamin delivery method is important. Time release multi vitamins may have some value in giving the supplement a high bio-availability compared to tablets because they provide a slow release of nutrients by being in the blood-stream for longer. Mitamins' multi vitamins come in natural vegetable capsules that are artificial color-free. Capsules are superior to tablets in a number of ways. Mitamins easy-to-swallow capsules dissolve quickly and are easier to digest than tablets, providing a high bio-availability of the supplements you need.

Taking your Multi vitamin - Get Used to it!
Less than 30% of people who buy vitamins, multi vitamins or other supplements stick to their vitamin regime. Too many supplement bottles end up expiring on bathroom shelves. An easy way to solve this problem is to create an all-in-one supplement that contains vitamins for all your health concerns, nutritional needs, and personal health profile in a single bottle. Mitamins is the only company now that can provide a custom-made formula addressing all your nutritional requirements in a single capsule supplement.

Once you create your all-in-one vitamin supplement, there are other ways to improve "supplement compliance." Taking a multi vitamin with meals can also help: if you get into the habit of taking a multi vitamin with your breakfast, the supplement routine will likely stick.

Yet Another Miracle Cure
If you are considering a multi vitamin regime, then you have probably heard of the benefits that certain nutrients can bring to the body. Practically every day new research is presented telling us how certain nutrients can prevent or cure disease such as cancer or diabetes, help weight loss, or high cholesterol. It is always worth actually reading these published studies yourself as results may not be repeatable with differing dosage and personal health profiles. There is plenty of specialist multi vitamin advice available on the internet, so make sure your information is from a trusted source. Try the Mitamins Blog and Health Forums for nutrition advice from a range of sources.

About the Author
Mitamins' aim is to custom-made the best natural remedies to complement the treatment of your concerns. How do you know if you are deficient in iron or calcium, zinc or magnesium?

The only way to know for sure is to visit your doctor and have your blood tested. But in the mean time ensuring you eat a good healthy diet which is well balanced and all foods are eaten in moderation will give your body the best chance of being as healthy as it can be.

Or will it? Today many people are erring on the side of caution and turning to dietary supplements to boost their nutrient intake.

Dietary supplements are available from supermarkets, chemists and health stores. They can be self prescribed and taken in small regular amounts as a form of health insurance or to treat minor ailments.

Larger amounts of dietary supplements may be required for nutritional support of severe pathological conditions. However if larger amounts are required you should consult a medical practitioner or nutritionist for guidance.

Most vitamin and mineral supplements provide several times the required daily intake of each nutrient. There are some nutrients however, like vitamins A and D that can have toxic effects if taken in large amounts and are obviously only available in small amounts.

Vitamin K is also not readily available in supplement form due to its potential dangers of causing bleeding.

Follow manufacturer's guidelines
Supplements are available in single nutrients or are combined as a broad-spectrum multiformula. Providing you follow the manufacturer's guidelines and have no pre-existing condition that is contraindicated for that supplement you are not likely to have a problem when taking self prescribed dietary supplements.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, or taking any medication for a pre-existing medical condition you should consult with your doctor before taking any dietary supplement.

About the Author
Helen Sinclair is a highly regarded health writer with expertise across a range of areas. Antioxidants work by sucking up free radicals that can damage your body's cells and transporting them to the liver where eventually they exit the body.

Heart Disease in particular has been the subject of recent studies. Researchers in Italy examined three hundred and seven middle aged women for Atherosclerosis. This is the formation of plaques and lesions in the coronary arteries, which can signal the development of cardiovascular disease years before a doctor diagnosis's it.

These women did not take vitamin supplements containing vitamins A, C or E. The researchers took blood samples to measure the women's baseline level of various antioxidants, took questionnaires and performed ultrasound examinations of their carotid arteries and branches of the heart. They found that women who had plaques building in their arteries had a low intake of vitamin E.

Women with the lowest baseline concentrations of Vitamin E in their blood were twice as likely to have plaque build up in their carotid arteries and branches of the heart.

In a side note some promising research has come up relating to breast cancer in women. Researchers gave thirty-two women between the ages of thirty-two and eighty-one with metastasized breast cancer a multivitamin supplement. It contained vitamin C, E, Beta Carotene, selenium, coenzyme Q10 and other vitamins and minerals daily for eighteen months.

None of the patients died during this period, which is wonderful because without supplements it could be expected that at least four of the volunteers would have died. Also the cancer in each of the patients appeared to stop spreading. Six of the patients showed partial remission. One of the six patients in partial remission had her dosage of coenzyme Q10 increased to 390mg daily and within two months her tumor could no longer be seen on a mammogram.

Antioxidants are beneficial but they seem to be able to do only do so much. In a French study publicized in 2004 it was found that antioxidants tended to benefit men more than women. The Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale and Unite de Surveillance et d'Epidemiologie Nutritionnelle studied the effects of taking supplements in more than thirteen thousand men and women for seven and a half years. The participants were divided into groups, each one taking a different antioxidant daily.

The antioxidants were ascorbic acid, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, Selenium, Zinc and a placebo. At the end of the study they found that the men who took antioxidants were thirty-one percent less likely to develop cancer than women.

Some of us women may be automatically thinking what a sexist finding! While it is possible that antioxidants are simply more effective in men it's not probable. It is more likely that the men had a lower baseline of antioxidants in their bloodstream than women, in other words women may have a better diet than men with lots of antioxidants and their baselines were already high. So the antioxidants that men took simply brought the men's baseline up and the antioxidants that women took may have been superfluous.

As a result of this study the researchers suggested that you are able to get a high and beneficial level of antioxidants in your blood with a diet containing lots of fruits and veggies.

About the Author
Author Vincent Platania represents the Stanley Home Products. Omega 3 is a fish oil supplement, one of the most widely used.

Fish oil supplements have serious anti-inflammatory properties that can prove to be critical in diseases where the immune system is known to attack itself and create inflammation.

A perfect example would be digestive problems like Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease. These diseases create massive inflammation inside the digestive lining and Omega 3 is normally recommended by doctors now as a part of the treatment, in combination with many other drugs.

However, fish oils such as Omega 3 are not only good for digestive conditions but have been known to help with:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure) - Rheumatoid arthritis

Interesting note is that digestive problems or "Inflammatory Bowel Diseases" are also finding to have close relationship to Rheumatoid Arthritis, so Omega 3 having a positive impact on both would make perfect sense.

The basic acids inside the Omega 3 have elements that are important to many processes in the body such as blood clotting and the immune system.

Fish oils are also known to reduce blood pressure and help improve your heart. Actually the health benefits of Omega 3 are too long to list, whether you have any illness or not, taking Omega 3 supplements can be incredibly helpful!

In case you want to avoid taking pills then it is suggest that you eat fish on a daily basis that is grilled. Almost all fishes have a very high serving of Omega 3 and carry very health beneficial elements.

In addition to Omega 3, fish are also very high in protein while being incredibly low in fat. Patients with digestive problems have also noted and reported that fish is much easier to digest than other "tougher" meats such as pork, beef and even turkey.

Consuming the proper amount of fish or fish oil supplements is becoming critical to helping boost your immune system and improving your overall health.

About the Author
For more information on what nutrition and diet changes to make for digestive conditions like Crohn's Disease...
http://www.CrohnsHelp.com has hundreds of articles written on the topic of fighting back against Crohn's Disease through proper Crohn's Disease diet and nutrition.

Click here to get 20% - 70% OFF top name vitamins and supplements from eVitamins.
Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31901816.post-1159279747919818902006-09-26T07:07:00.000-07:002006-11-13T12:30:30.832-08:00Your Guide To Herbal Weight LossHealth is wealth, so goes the saying. But too much health brings hell wrath!

Well, health doesn't mean belly pouring out or plump checks; rather fitness with stamina and disease free body is what marks a healthy body. The lethargic living of present day and a number of diseases are due to a fetish gain of weight. This is called "obesity" which is a result of extra proportion of fat in your body. The problem of obesity takes its roots from your wrong eating habits and you cannot get rid of it even after starving for four days!

Nearly 119 million of Americans are either overweight or obese. Obesity is the major reason behind many diseases related to heart, diabetes and blood pressure problems. Thus these people are really conscious for losing "extra" weight. To get rid of the corpulent accumulation of fats these people can go literally to any heights!

The most popular method tried so far has been the herbal weight loss program. The herbal weight loss program includes many supplements like patches for skin, intravenous injections, oral pills, herbal tea and many other herbal products.

The herbal medicines are extracted from the natural herbs and clinically prepared in the form of medicines. They are genetically engineered to reduce the fats by either burning them down in body metabolism or throwing out of the body as excretion products in organic forms. These medicines intervene with the metabolism of the human body and burn the extra calories. Now with so many products marketing and increasing business has raised certain questions in the use of these herbal weight loss medicines.

· Are they really effective?
· Do they pose harmful side effects?
· Are they better than simple home remedies?

The answer to the first question is that they are effective to some extent. Many people have got good results in many countries with these herbal weight loss solutions while some other people have even complained about their incompetent nature. Things work out different in different bodies. We can try to alter natural processes but nature too is stubborn sometimes. Hence herbal medicines which particularly suit your genes work better for you indeed.

Secondly many people say that herbal medicines are not chemical in nature which is rather a ridiculous comment. Every living object is organic in nature and organic products simply mean chemical combination reaction products.

Anything which is made from herbs doesn't mean it is not toxic or is free of side effects. The extracts of the herbs may sometimes cause some allergies in some people. Now why cannot we digest grass? Simply because, our digestive juices cannot digest cellulose!

So try those herbal medicines that have recommendations by the FDA or other recognized clinical certificate. They are harmless and they are effective in their ways.

Combined with some other home remedies, the herbal methods will work wonders to fight obesity. You can include abs stretching and exercising, yoga and good eating as a part of your life to have early results. For example, honey mixed with lime cuts down fat; vegetables like cabbage, tomatoes help in better in synthesizing fats. Avoid bad habits like smoking and junk foods intake. These practices are easy to implement and body friendly for weight loss.

Whatever product you choose to lose your weight, make sure they don't contain ephedra and are without any caffeine or harmful stimulants. Otherwise herbal products are safe to use and they are effective in losing body weight.

You can also try herbal tea which has been more effective not only to lose body weight but also to ensure a healthy way of living. Simple use of herbal weight antidote either in the form of pills or injection or patches won't work for you. So judicially combine some physical exercises and sports to your daily activities.

Try to walk a mile every day. If it is not possible always, try at least three-four days a week. Maintain a healthy diet intake, free from saturated fats and take more fruits and vegetables to keep the nightmare called "obesity" at bay.

About the Author
http://www.thelosspill.com/ & Herbal Weight Loss provides detailed information on weight loss, weight loss tips, herbal weight loss and more.

Click here to get 20% - 70% OFF top name vitamins and supplements from eVitamins.
Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31901816.post-1157743797720888152006-09-08T12:28:00.000-07:002006-11-13T12:30:30.599-08:00Finding the Right SupplementFinding the supplement that is right for you can be hard. There are so many different supplements out there today that all promise to do one thing or another and when you actually try them you find that they don't do what they say they do.

Finding a supplement that does what it says it does is hard work, but it is possible. The problem today with buying supplements is that you can never seem to find one that fits what you need.

Or you find one that does, but it ends up putting you at too much calcium. Asking friends relatives and your doctor can help you find the supplement that is right for you. A common problem with looking for supplements that are right is that you also need to be careful of supplements that give the same thing something else you are taking does.

This is usually a problem for older people, but no matter what age it can be frustrating. You have to know exactly what all you are taking and exactly how much of it you are taking, and if you can't remember you have to carry your other supplements with you when you go to buy a new supplement.

Finding the supplement that is right for you is important to do so that you are able to get exactly what you need. By know you know what you need and you are simply trying to find a supplement that fits in with the description.

While finding a supplement that fits you may be hard, finding a place that sells supplements is not as hard. Supplements can be found at any pharmacy in your town. The pharmacist there can help you look for what you need.

So after getting everything in order and finding the supplements that don't work you will be left with the one that you want. The supplement that is right for you.

Aches, Pains, and Calcium
As we all know, calcium is responsible for our bones teeth muscles and blood stream. What we don't know is that some of our pains and aches at the end of the day happen because of calcium.
Calcium keeps our bones strong as long as we keep a good supply of calcium in our bodies. How ever, when we don't take care of our bodies and our calcium levels get low, our body takes the calcium it needs right from our bones.

This can cause weak bones and the calcium is not replaced until we eat something that has a lot of calcium in it. The problem is that we usually don't eat something to make up for the lost calcium until the next day.

When this happens our bones are weak, and suffer from stiffness, throbbing pains, and other damage causing pressure. Our muscles go through it as well. Unless we keep ourselves well fed and maintain a good calcium balance in our diets these pains will continue to occur.

Arthritis is caused by this, and it can lead to osteoporosis. Keeping your body in shape can help prevent all of these problems. When you come home from work don't immediately plop down on the couch and turn on the TV, if you are like most people, your idea of lunch was fast food or no food.

Get a glass of milk, or something that is high in calcium, because you may be tired from work, but you will be hurting from low calcium later if you don't. Sometimes the pains can be caused by having too much calcium.

The extra build up has to escape or be used somehow, and which ever way it chooses, the extra build up is causing pressure to nerves. Low calcium can also cause head aches, and can make your entire body hurt.

About the Author
Steven Godlewski is a self-made millionaire and is currently working with the staff at PillFreeVitamins.com He has an extensive background in nutrition as well as other health related fields. The blood acts as a carrier to deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscles, cells, and tissues. If something is happened to the heart, the functions of various parts of the body may be affected in one way or the other.

A healthy diet can not only reduce the risk of developing heart disease but also increase the chances of survival after a heart attack. Maintaining an ideal weight as a result of healthy diet can reduce the strain on heart; blood cholesterol level and hence the blood pressure; and lower the risk of stroke.

During World War II, beri-beri heart disease was very common because of Thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency. But, nutritional deficiency is not a major cause of heart disease nowadays. The main problem facing most people now is eating too much sugar and fat but not getting enough vitamin and mineral required.

The diet we consume consists of two components: macro-nutrients and micro-nutrient. Macro-nutrients are carbohydrate, protein and fat, while micro-nutrients are vitamins and minerals. The key is you need to strike a balance between these two. Because of the bad effect of fatty foods (those consist of bad fats, of course), people tend to replace fat and protein with pure carbohydrates. Eating a lot of carbohydrates can probably reduce the risk of heart disease because of low cholesterol level.

The weight, however, will be gained and so obesity, one of the risk factors for heart disease, may come into picture. Intake of pure carbohydrates can also cause vitamin deficiency. Vitamins B12 and folic acid are good at preventing anaemia that can weaken body, including the heart.

Taking vitamin supplements may not help you in preventing heart disease, but insufficient intake of the required vitamins may make you a possible candidate of heart disease. In The Food Doctor, a book written by nutritionist authors Ian Marber and Vicki Edgson, used ACE to describe three essential vitamins that keep the heart healthy.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant, together with vitamins A and E, can stop food from oxidizing and protect the heart by attacking the harmful chemicals in the blood that are known as free radicals. It is believed that free radicals speed up the process of hardening of the arteries.

A balance diet is one with less fatty foods, less saturated fat, less sugar, and less salt. A small change in the salt intake can reduce the chances of hypertension. In regards to this, there are two vast concepts: the first is that genes perform an important role in the overall picture of health and individual longevity. This is quite obvious because individuals have a tendency to develop similar symptoms of sickness of their ancestors.

The second vast concept is that we can control our destiny to a certain degree, for the simple reason that environmental conditions, like nutrition, play a vital part in overall health. An inadequate consumption of specific vitamins and minerals is a major aspect of the modern diet.

Although genes may play an important role in deciding whether we live an extended, healthy life, within the confinements that are imposed by genes, good nutritional habits can definitely influence health.

Today we eat rather well, considering that only a few nutrient-dense nuts, fruits and vegetables are consumed regularly. We are not only under tremendous physical and psychological strain that our ancestors never dreamed about, but even if we had a balanced food diet intake, our food has less nutrition to begin with due to using synthetic chemicals. Furthermore, it is processed and stored within one inch of its life.

Vitamins make up one of several major groups of nutrients essential for health. They regulate chemical reactions by which the body changes food into energy and living tissues. A chemical compound that the human body needs in small doses, the vitamin is a fundamental part of the enzymes. Enzymes act as a catalyst in the chemical reactions of the human body that helps digest our food. More importantly, they are what cause things to occur, and occur faster. In short, without vitamins, the enzymes can't perform their duties.

Minerals are not produced by animals and plants; therefore, they are inorganic. Like the vitamin, a mineral functions as coenzymes, affording chemical reactions to perform throughout the entire body. Minerals belong in two groups: the macro- minerals and the micro-minerals. The macro-minerals consist of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

The micro-minerals consist of copper, iron, zinc and beron; as well as potassium, iodine, selenium, chromium and maganese. Stored primarily in muscle and bone tissue, minerals are in various parts of the body. It is also likely to overdose on minerals if the intake is of very large amounts.

About the Author
James brown writes about Vitamins Coupon, Zink and Vita Coupons.

Click here to get 20% - 70% OFF top name vitamins and supplements from eVitamins.
Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31901816.post-1156604520401288752006-08-26T08:00:00.000-07:002006-11-13T12:30:29.849-08:00Maca-Herb - For Boosting EnergyIf you'd like a boost in your workout, or something to make your day glide by more energetically, you need look no further; Maca Herb is all you need.

Maca Herb is the highest altitude-cultivated crop in the world. Difficulty remembering every day things like where you left your car keys, personal phone numbers you call frequently, or even day-to-day choices can accelerate brain aging.

A state of depression is said to exist when the brain tries to face a stressful emotional problem, and finds it difficult to cope with other attention-demanding actions at the same time. The occurrence can become so all-absorbing as to incapacitate the individual. Over time this stressful drain on brain activity can produce different symptoms that are labeled illnesses according to how a person behaves.

You need to be concerned when memory loss or emotional stress begins to interfere with daily functioning. Forgetting where you are going after you get in your automobile to travel, or forgetting why you went to the store. Problems associated with social functioning such as fear, anxiety, persistent emotional and relationship troubles are cause for concern as well.

Several factors can inhibit normal brain functioning these include: insomnia, anxiety, depression, stroke, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. By age 50, blood flow to the brain can be reduced by 20 percent. Reduced blood flow translates to less oxygen and nutrients going to your brain.
Other saboteurs in memory loss include:

attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diabetes, thyroid disease, failure of the lungs, liver, or kidneys prescription medications vitamin B12 deficit alcoholism infections such as encephalitis and meningitis

So how can you improve your brain functioning? Smarter lifestyle and nutrient changes can affect the way you remember, think, feel, and behave.

Get moving with physical activity by exercising regularly. Avoid social isolation and get a little help from your friends. Learn something new, work some crossword or jigsaw puzzles, read something besides fiction, these and other mental activities will stimulate cognitive functioning.
Relax often, try some meditation. Meditation relieves stress and memory problems. When stress levels are high the hormone "cortisol" is released causing impaired brain functioning by getting our blood sugar levels off balance.

Put some smarter nutrients to work for you. Your brain loves balanced nutrients just like the rest of your body does. Eat more fish and more fresh fruits and vegetables. Use supplements that promote healthy brain and body functioning. Omega-3 is definitely one healthy brain nutrient, and you can supplement with a high grade fish oil. Botanicals like garlic, ginkgo, green and black teas are powerful medicines as well.

Most people will overlook this one, and I believe it is more important than everything I have mentioned so far. Be sure to keep your brain hydrated, by drinking at the very minimum of two quarts of water each day, more is even better!

Avoid excessive caffeine, alcoholic, and sugary beverages, these keep you in a state of dehydration. Persistent memory and emotional problems are the results of a water deficiency that have become so severe, that brain tissue is damaged.

When we begin to understand the main causes of stress in our brains and bodies, we will then begin to understand the importance that pure water has on our brains and other bodily systems. By learning that dehydration ALONE puts us in a stressful state of being, and that stressful state of being in turn causes further dehydration within us, we can learn to avoid sickness.

By keeping your brain properly hydrated you can most definitely put the brakes on this vicious cycle, and when you do, you will discover one of the best well kept secrets that modern medicine has kept from you to improve your health.

About the Author
Brenda Skidmore has spent the last three years researching natural health care alternatives. Turns out, one of the nutrients your body needs, vitamin K, is found in two items that are usually a little lower on the list of nutritious breakfast foods: bacon and coffee.

If you prefer tea with your morning meal, vitamin K can be found in green tea as well. It's also in cheese and liver. That doesn't mean you shouldn't eat your vegetables, too, it's also found in leafy vegetables, broccoli, and asparagus. Vitamin K is also produced in the intestines.

Vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin, which means that toxicity may be an issue if you take it in high doses. This is unlikely through food sources, but can occur if you take a supplement with K3, a synthetic form of vitamin K known as menadione.

Short term symptoms of vitamin K toxicity are sweating and flushing. Over time, jaundice or anemia can occur. Even though vitamin K is fat soluble though, the body does not store as much of it as it does other vitamins, and you have to make sure that you take enough in consistently. While the body doesn't store much vitamin K, it does use it quite efficiently, recycling it and using it for the same process more than once.

Vitamin K plays a large role in blood clotting, in fact blood cannot clot without it, and symptoms of vitamin K deficiency include frequent nosebleeds and bruises that heal slowly. If you are taking large doses of vitamin A or vitamin E, these can interfere with the body's ability to absorb vitamin K.

Because vitamin K facilitates clotting, people who have had problems with blood clots, such as heart attacks or strokes, need to be careful about how much vitamin K they get in their diet, especially if they are on the blood thinning medication coumadin (the generic name for this medication is warfarin).

They should still make sure they get the recommended daily allowance (RDA) to avoid other bleeding problems, but should watch consumption levels of foods high in vitamin K, as it can reduce the effectiveness of their medication. Some research has indicated that vitamin K also helps maintain bone strength, especially in older people.

About the Author
Linda Polansky writes about Vitamin T,Best health vitamins.

Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31901816.post-1155852378079662482006-08-17T15:04:00.000-07:002006-11-13T12:30:28.943-08:00Multivitamins - A Ticket to Daily HealthAn increasingly number of the world's population is now eager and interested in looking after their health and in keeping tune with their well-being. It is important to note that this awareness is progressively contributing to the creation of several health supplements to benefit both the adults and the young ones. Dietary and vitamin supplements have constantly proven their worth to health conscious individuals.

An excellent daily multivitamin supplement does not only develop your general bodily functions but also improves your mental and physical condition and well being. Occasionally specification is needed in appropriately supplementing nutrients to deal with any individual needs. An example would be in heart disease patients, they would have to take in CoQ10 in preventing the said condition. Alzheimer's disease can be effectively prevented by a regular combination of Vitamin C and E intake.

Multivitamin supplements necessarily include all the vitamins and nutrients essential for recommended daily dosage. Multivitamin supplements may also be formulated to meet the needs of individual conditions like pregnancy and specific age brackets. It is a well settled fact that multivitamins in liquid form are more efficient than the ordinary pill forms. This is due to the fact that the body can easily absorb liquid nutrients five times more than ordinary multivitamins in tablet or capsule form.

Basically, the body needs 13 essential vitamins to function properly. In regulating the crucial performance of the body, it has to have vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K, B12, and the 7 B-complex vitamins. Majority of these vitamins are obtained by our body through the food that we eat. The danger of illness or even mortality is in the deficiency of some of the essential vitamins. This is where vitamin supplementation comes in.

It counteracts the illness caused by such deficiency. With this fact, it is very unlikely for someone to refuse vitamin supplementation on a daily basis. So the question now is, why is it necessary for individuals to take multivitamins when majority of our daily diet can provide us with the basic nutrients we need? It may not be compulsory, but everyone can profit from daily multivitamins.

As previously mentioned, the clear benefit of daily intake of multivitamins it to prevent vitamin/nutrient deficiency. Some personal circumstances may increase dietary needs. Pregnant women, during their first trimester, are recommended by their doctors to take multivitamins. This does not only provide the mothers with sufficient nutrition but also proper vitamins to benefit the unborn child inside their womb.

Taking multivitamins everyday reduces the risk of transmitting malnutrition from a pregnant woman to her unborn baby. Other conditions such as old age, alcoholism, smoking, and exposure to excessive pollution have long-term detrimental effects to the body system which can be successfully counteracted by multivitamins.

Stress is also one risk factor which needs serious supplementation that multivitamins can provide. Especially with people who have so much to do and have a hard time in keeping up with their health needs, multivitamins are a must to keep them always on the go without any health complications in the long run. Stress formulations benefit both your mental ability and daily endurance. Aside from the mentioned benefits, daily multivitamins also minimize the risk of cancer or any cardiovascular disease.

Several people, if not all, testify to have a feeling of comfortable health in regularly taking in multivitamins. This is due to the synergistic or combined effects of the supplemental ingredients found in multivitamins. A fat-soluble antioxidant vitamin, like the Vitamin E, works to neutralize probable harmful free agents in the body. This vitamin also maintains healthy skin through protection of cell membranes, blood circulation, heart, nerves, red blood cells, and muscles.

Another antioxidant is the Vitamin C which effectively fights blood cell infection and is vital in collagen formation, wound healing, and formation of bone structures, capillaries, and teeth. Vitamin is also helpful in the iron absorption from plant sources. Vitamins A, D, K and other supplemental nutrients found in multivitamins have specific functions that benefit the bodily functions.

While daily intake of multivitamins may have proven beneficial, it is not a 100% guarantee to be free of serious illness attributed to other factors. It is often a misconception that symptoms of disease may always be cured by taking multivitamins. Health experts have the better opinion of immediate medical assistance rather than resorting to multivitamins alone.

About the Author
William Hogarth, Alpha Lipoic Acid Nutritional Supplements Weight Loss B12 Vitamin

Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31901816.post-1155495431322759172006-08-13T11:55:00.000-07:002006-11-13T12:30:28.556-08:00SAM-E : The Effective Natural Antidepressant?SAM-E is a natural supplement that has gotten some fairly decent exposure as an effective remedy for depression and anxiety lately. Although it is a "talked about" depression remedy, it has not received anywhere near the hype of the "other" natural antidepressant, called St. John's Wort.

The difference between the two supplements is that SAM-E is actually a man made compound, whereas St. John's Wort is a natural herb that is processed into caplets for consumption. SAM-E typically is in tablet form, like a vitamin, and is only potent and effective (supposedly), when it comes packaged in individually blister sealed packs.

I actually gave SAM-E a whirl at one point, when I started to experience feelings of depression and general blues, which was not my typical demeanor. I noticed I was more irritable, and had a sense that everything was working against me, so I decided to try a natural remedy for my obvious anxiety, irritability, and what I thought was mild depression.

I purchased a package of SAM-E in blister packs online. I think I paid about $28 for the package, which was one months worth. I took one tablet a day, which was 500 milligrams. I soon noticed that taking the supplement was giving me splitting headaches though, so I cut down the dosage to one half of a tablet every morning on an empty stomach.

I still got the splitting, nauseating headaches. I did notice that it seemed to help with my mood a little, but not enough to justify suffering the debilitating headaches. I also noticed a nearly constant tightness in my chest, which scared me into stop taking the supplement all together.
This reaction got me curious if others had experienced the same negative side effects of SAM-E, so I started looking online to see if there were any other similar stories to mine.

What I found were a lot of others who experienced the headaches, and yet others who also experienced the tightness in the chest area, and other side effects like gastrointestinal pain, nausea and some other less common symptoms. Some even complained that SAM-E actually made their depression worse, and made their anxiety reach almost unbearable levels.

There were also others that said SAM-E worked well for them, but they did experience negative side effects, and still others that said it made them feel better with no side effects at all, although these were unfortunately not in the majority, it seemed.

Since SAM-E is only recommended to be started off in lower dosages, it is alarming that many people report being advised to take dosages of 500-800 miligrams from the start. If you ever try this alternative to antidepressants, you should be cautious with the dosages at first, and maybe try starting off very low, then increasing the dose, but only if you experience no negative side effects.

It's difficult to say whether the side effects I experienced were due to an excessively high dosage (too much, too fast?), but they were bad enough that I considered the symptoms worse than the mild anxiety and depression I was experiencing, which was my personal reason for dicontinuation of the supplement.

So, what exactly is SAM-E, and how does it work, you ask? SAM-E (pronounced like the name "Sam" and the letter "e"), is short for it's chemical name, s-adenosymethianone. It is a synthetic form of a specific chemical which is found within the human body that is thought to help regulate mood.

SAM-E is marketed as a natural remedy for depression and anxiety, and an alternative to popular depression medications like Prozac and Paxil, which may have serious side effects, but it is also is taken by some individuals for heart and joint health.

While it may be recommended for mild to moderate depression, most physicians recommend against taking it for people with bipolar disorder, as it may push them into manic episodes.

About the Author
Danna Schneider is the founder of Herbal Therapy and Natural Healing , which features an array of natural alternative medicines for maladies such as depression. You need to begin thinking about anti aging nutrition. Although that sounds somewhat trite the truth is that everything you put in your mouth has the potential to effect your health and your skin and so your emotional reactions to aging as well.

Anti aging nutrition must include an increase in vitamins. A study done in the late 1990s has proven that vitamin B is essential in resisting aging. This includes all three of the vitamin Bs, B6, B12 and folic acid.

These are important in keeping down the risks of heart disease and to assist with memory. They help to slow brain degeneration, as does taking ginkgo, which is also known to sharpen your wits and improve your memory. Vitamins C, D and calcium are also essential. These can all be taken in pill or capsule from or by increasing the foods that carry this essential anti aging nutrition for your body.

Some of the best foods you can eat include fruits and vegetables. That doesn't mean that you have to give up enjoying those meat and potato meals you love so much. Just add some extra vegetables to your meal. The beauty of eating lots of vegetables is that they are fat, cholesterol and salt free.

This is true of all vegetables except for avocados, olives and coconuts. That means that those ones should be eaten with less frequency while enjoying the others as often as you like. Diet suggestions for those who are approaching, and passing, middle age, say you should eat at least five servings of fruits or vegetables a day, but eight would be even better.

By following simple anti aging nutrition tips you will increase the fiber in your diet without increasing the calories. This also has the benefit of lowering your risks for many of the potential illnesses that reach out to us as we slide past middle age.

These include cancer, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. One thing we need as we age is antioxidants. These are found in fruits and vegetables as well as vitamin supplements. Antioxidants are helpful in protecting aging bodies from disease and that is one of the most important things you can do for yourself.

About the Author
Chris Lakatos is the creator of Anti-aging Health portal : http://anti-aging.healthylivinghub.com/Anti_Aging_Nutrition.html . In contrast, adults average two to four episodes a year, with a greater frequency found in those with children. What's a cold? A cold is a self-limiting viral infection of the respiratory tract typically marked by a scratchy, sore throat, followed by sneezing and a runny nose.

A person suffering a cold would usually have a body temperature that is normal or only slightly elevated. A mild cough may develop several days later. The cold virus can be spread easily. Tiny droplets in the air, such as from a cough or a sneeze, carry the virus from person to person. Direct personal contact, such as hand- shaking or kissing, transfer the virus as well.

Most colds strike in the fall and winter in temperate countries, and during the cooler rainy season in tropical countries. Researchers at the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) say that this is probably due to the greater time spent indoors in cold weather, increasing the opportunity for viruses to spread among people.

Also, the lower humidity during the colder months helps viruses thrive and may dry the lining of nasal passages, making people more susceptible to infection. Smoking, which destroys the mucosal lining of the respiratory tract, greatly increases the frequency of colds in adults.

Conventional treatment amazingly, modern medicine has not yet developed an efficient way to kill- cold viruses once they have invaded the body. Also, we do not acquire useful resistance to these viruses because there are over 200 of them, constantly mutating. The best way to handle a cold is to prevent it.

If despite precautions, you do get a cold, doctors advise that you take an over-the-counter medication to relieve symptoms such as a runny nose and cough. Most non- prescription cough-cold remedies contain a combination of ingredients to relieve multiple symptoms.

These combination products often contain anti-pyretics to reduce fever and analgesics to relieve minor aches, pains, and headaches. Many people rare convinced that taking vitamin C can prevent colds or relieve symptoms. There is no conclusive evidence of this, but the vitamin may reduce the severity or duration of symptoms, according to the NIAID. A word of caution: Taking vitamin C in large amounts over long periods can be harmful.

What a medical doctor will tell you
* Take an antipyretic and analgesic if your temperature is over 102 F or if you experience severe muscle pain or weakness. The number of diagnosed cases has escalated alarmingly, particularly in Western countries. With the increasing number of reported cases, researchers and scientists have developed various sets of treatment protocols to help manage conditions affecting the prostate gland.

However, maintaining a healthy prostate is still the best way to avoid having to undergo strenuous treatment tactics to manage these problems. In the past few years, supplements for prostate health have been made available to help men minimize their chances of developing any of these disorders.

Supplements for prostate health are not cures, they are habits and nutrients that can help improve a man's prostate health and thereby narrow his chances of acquiring prostate-related disorders such as prostatitis, enlarged prostate and even cancer. According to studies, nutrition is the most important factor both in the development and management of prostate gland diseases. Proper diet and a healthy lifestyle are believed to be key elements in maintaining a healthy prostate.

The prostate gland is part of the male reproductive system. It is located under the urinary bladder and in front of the rectum. The position of the prostate allows it to affect the processes of urination and ejaculation.

To maintain the health of the prostate gland, experts have claimed that excessive intake of animal-derived foods such as red meat and dairy products should be avoided. This claim is primarily based on statistics which showed that Western men have a higher percentage of prostate diseases compared with Asian men. Westerners are more inclined to have red meat in their diet, while Asians are more likely to eat vegetables and fruits.

Another factor that contributes to prostate health is lycopene. Lycopene is an antioxidant agent that can be found in tomatoes, guavas, watermelon and pink grapefruit. When it comes to minerals, zinc has been hailed as the most effective in helping lower a man's chances of developing prostate disorders.

Zinc can be found in shellfish, yeast and pumpkin seeds. Since men tend to lose zinc when they ejaculate, their need for this particular mineral is higher than that of women. A daily intake of 50 to 100 milligrams of zinc has been recommended by health experts to ensure a proper level of supply in the body.

Soy products are another of those groups of foods recommended to men, particularly those aged 45 and above. Some scientists have speculated that Japanese men have lower incidence of prostate cancer compared with American men because they have higher intakes of soy foods. Tofu, tempeh, miso and soy milk are common in most Japanese men's dietary programs.

Aside from their long-proven nutritional functions, soy products also contain two substances that seem to help fight cancer. These are genistein and isoflavinoids. These chemicals have been found to be particularly effective against hormone-dependent cancers like prostate cancer.
Most supplements for prostate health are found in ordinary natural foods that people can easily get their hands on. Even though these supplements cannot cure cancer, they can help in developing the defenses of men against prostate disorders.

About the Author
Mensglands.com provides you with info on supplements for prostate health, its treatments and symptoms and how to overcome or reduce the risk of getting it. http://www.mensglands.com/

eVitamins carries top name vitamins and supplements
ALL AT 20 - 70% OFF!

Value Publishinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04330874920784357255noreply@blogger.com0
